Nation’s Food Self-Sufficiency Rate in Japan

On August 7, 2015, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries released Japan’s food self-sufficiency rate in FY2014 (from April 2014 to March 2015). Japan’s calorie-based rate of food self-sufficiency was 39%, and it remained flat from FY2013. The production value-based rate of food self-sufficiency was 64%, decreased one point from FY2013.
